As 2007 has ended and 2008 has begun, various commentators have noted that 2007 was a year in which global problems both worsened and improved, yet was perhaps historic in the evolution of consciousness that we are all citizens of one planet who must work together to avert threats to all life on earth from a convergence of crises related to the environment, poverty, hunger, health, and global security.
